Uber

In 2015, as Uber expanded its ridesharing services in the Central Region, I traveled to several of the newly served cities to document individual experiences with the app from the perspectives of both the riders and drivers. I produced videos promoting the launch of UberPOOL and advocating for Uber pick-ups at Chicago-area airports, both of which had successful results: UberPOOL has since expanded to other major cities, and legislation was passed allowing Uber drivers to access Chicago airports.

My ride-alongs led to the creation of a series of narrative videos concentrating on how Uber could help the communities it serves, including exploring the company’s partnership with the YWCA and efforts to get more female drivers, focusing on Uber as a way to combat drunk driving; and illustrating how drivers can help those with disabilities and comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act.
