Perspectives Charter Schools 

Over the last five years, I have been an instrumental PR consultant for Perspectives Charter Schools, a pioneer and leader in sustainable community school models across Chicago. My communications strategy helped convey their holistic educational system that fosters ethical leadership and cultivates student agency. Through annual campaigns and galas, we showcased the vital contributions of corporate community partnerships, the robust offerings of athletic and experiential student activities, and social-emotional programs to help students process trauma to better focus on learning. Campaigns generated millions in continued support and established Perspectives as a pillar of hope for South Side Chicago.

  • Challenge

    Perspectives must raise roughly $1,000 per student annually to deliver on its commitment to providing its students with its unique, holistic educational model, A Disciplined Life. This model includes a combination of 26 principles rooted in academic rigor, social-emotional learning, and experiential opportunities. 

  • Campaigns

    Over five years, we collaborated on 14 campaigns, including three fundraising galas. I created the first branded digital campaign in the charter’s history. The overview tagline and strategy, “We Live a Disciplined Life,” serves as evergreen marketing material and was incorporated into 20 videos for the annual fundraiser in its first year. In collaboration with EVP of External Affairs Holly Copeland, we raised millions, continuing Perspectives’ legacy of learning for thousands of students across Chicago.

  • Communications

    Documented corporate community events spanning months and sometimes years. The Peace and Mediation Room, sponsored by Horizon and Heart of America, offers at-risk students a space to grieve and heal from life’s challenges. The Back-to-School Supplies Drive provided 52 students with school materials. Large-scale facility improvement projects, including replacing windows, painting murals and fences, and remodeling the gym, showcased an involved and passionate community on Chicago’s south side.

  • Public Relations

    Developed materials for the media to raise awareness of experiential opportunities offered at Perspectives, including after-school activities, class trips, and mentorship and internship programs. The STEM Ask & Learn campaign, with community partner The Chicago Council on Science and Technology, introduced students at the Perspectives Math and Science Academy to STEM professionals from various backgrounds. Scientists, engineers, and doctors talked to students about college and entering STEM fields. A minute-long series was released monthly over two years, documenting the program’s success.
